Eyelid Surgery
It is said that your eyes are the windows into your soul. In other words, we delve into the depths of each other’s eyes to find the essence of the person behind those eyes. Therefore, your eyes are easily the most gripping features on your face. When speaking and listening to someone, you also utilize your eyes to communicate. In addition, you often exchange a passionate gaze with your significant other when you are in love. The importance of your eyes and how they appear to others cannot be overstated.
Your upper and lower eyelids protect your eyes. If your eyelids are unattractive, however, your eyes will appear unattractive as well. Your normal aging process is probably the major factor in making your eyelids (and therefore your eyes) look less beautiful than they can be. However, there are many other problems which can also cause your eyelids to look less than their best.
When you age, your skin begins to sag and is much less resilient. Aging takes place most noticeably on your face. Your delicate eyelid skin usually shows the first signs of your aging.
Your Lower Eyelid
Your lower eyelid is extremely vulnerable to bags and wrinkles. In the beginning, your wrinkles show up as tiny lines underneath your eye. You may get small crow's-feet beside your eye. As gravity continues to weigh down your skin over time, your fine lines become deeper, more pronounced wrinkles and lines. While your wrinkles and lines may be unsightly and unattractive, your bags may be an even worse condition for you to live with.
You have a collection of fat above your eye and below it. This fat cushions your eye in your eye socket. Your orbital septum is an eyelid structure which is supposed to keep your collection of eye fat in place. Sometimes, however, as your skin loses its firmness, your orbital septum weakens as well. When this happens, your fat swells into your lower eyelid. Your eyelid bulge then casts a deep shadow on your face when light shines down on you from above, so your whole eye not only looks puffy swollen, but you also look extremely tired and unhealthy.
Your Upper Eyelid
A whole other set of issues plagues your upper eyelid. Through the aging process your skin gets an elastic quality. As a result, you have extra fat and skin which may form a drooping hood over your eyelid. Your fat pad that cushions your upper eyelid may also protrude, causing your inner eyelid to bulge awkwardly. You then look sagging and tired, which makes you appear older.

Medical as Well as Cosmetic Eyelid Problems
Your eyelid problems may be more than just unappealing cosmetically. Extra skin on your eyelids weighing down over your eyes may cause your eyes to become fatigued, especially after a long day You may become physically tired from your heavy eyelids.
You may even have so much extra skin hanging down over your eyelid's edge that it obscures your field of vision. This may be severe enough in some cases that you literally must tilt your head back to see out from under your droopy eyelids. This is a medically undesirable condition and it should be treated as soon as possible, regardless of the fact that it shows that you are aging.
Sun Exposure
Factors other than aging may distort your eyelids as well. One factor is too much sun exposure, because the sun emits shortwave radiations that exacerbate premature aging. Additional lines and wrinkles will also develop. Unfortunately, these effects of sun exposure are cumulative.
Accumulation of Body Fluid
Another contributing factor to your eyelids’ unappealing appearance is your accumulation of body fluid. Your lower eyelid stores water, especially while you are sleeping because your head is lowered and gravity can’t help to drain your accumulated fluids. If you have any bagginess at all, the swelling will usually be even greater in the morning.
Too Little Body Fluid
On the other hand, it may also be a problem if you have too little body fluid. Excessive alcohol consumption causes your body to become dehydrated. This loss of water may cause the skin on your eyelids to thin out even more. If this happens, it may push your bulging eyelid fat pads closer to the surface of your skin, making your puffy, shadowy eyelids even more obvious.
Heredity
Another factor in your eyelid appearance is obviously your heredity. You may have a heavy-lidded or tired look that may have been inherited.
