Rhinoplasty
New York City, Manhattan, New York
Over 200,000 Americans choose to undergo rhinoplasty every year. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which enhances the appearance and often the function of the nose. Commonly referred to as a "nose job", rhinoplasty is performed as a means to reach a variety of aesthetic, corrective, and reconstructive goals. It can be performed to straighten a crooked nose, remove a dorsal hump, reduce a nose that is too long or wide, taper the tip of the nose, narrow the nostril span, and correct other asymmetries.
The Complexity of Nose Surgery
A septoplasty is often performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty to correct breathing problems that result from nasal passage obstruction. Other procedures such as chin augmentation may also be performed in order to enhance the aesthetic results of rhinoplasty. A typical rhinoplasty surgery takes about an hour, and probably costs less than you might think.

Rhinoplasty techniques
- Closed rhinoplasty – Incisions are made inside the nose through which cartilage and bone are reduced, sculpted and repositioned to improve contours. With reconstructive or secondary rhinoplasty, grafts of cartilage may be used to improve poor results from previous surgery.
- Open rhinoplasty – Dr. Bellin believes that open rhinoplasty is completely unnecessary and in fact produces less satisfactory results than a closed rhinoplasty
